Hiking  hikeflow.jpg (17001 bytes)    rainbow.jpg (12120 bytes)

Trails are available for all levels and vary in distance from a few hundred feet to many miles.  Day hike or venture out overnight.  The scenery of the Snowy Range is magnificent and there are always wildflowers in bloom.

Exploring Historic Mines and Other Sites   mine.jpg (18691 bytes)

Reminisce the days of old by exploring a number of historical sites in the Range.  Although many miners tried to make their fortunes in the area, few ever hit pay-dirt.

Horseback Riding   horse.jpg (24586 bytes)

Bring your horse along and explore many miles of trails.  We have corrals available so your horse can be close to your cabin. (Click on photo for more pictures of the corrals)

Fishing

Whether you use a worm, lure or fly, there are over 100 lakes, streams and rivers within a 15 mile radius of the Cabins.  Each presents a wonderful opportunity to catch the "big one".  Some waters can be driven to but many require a hike or 4WD vehicle.

Pleasure Driving

There are many sights and interpretive areas along Wyoming Highway 130, which is a Scenic Byway.

4-Wheeling and OHVs

Miles of challenging roads exist in the area.  Wyoming is currently working on an OHV trail system.  Check at the Office for recommendations based on your vehicle and ability level.

Mountain Biking

Miles of challenging roads and trails exist in the area with many starting nearby.   Check at the Office for recommendations based on your ability level.

Rafting and Kayaking

The North Platte River and Northgate Canyon offer challenging whitewater opportunities during runoff (April to July).  Flatwater boating is available on many nearby lakes and power boating is available on Rob Roy Reservoir a few miles south via maintained gravel roads.

Rock Climbing and Mountaineering

There are many challenging multi-pitch climbs a few miles up the road on the "Headwall" of the Snowy Range.  There is also mountaineering in an alpine setting almost year-round.

Wildlife Viewing

The Snowy Range is home to a number of species of wildlife.  Perhaps the favorite to see is a large moose from our small and elusive population.  Elk, Deer, Marmots and Pikas are regular sights.  Black bears in the area are particularly shy.
