Summer Activities

4-Wheeling and OHVs

Miles of challenging roads exist in the area. Wyoming is currently working on an OHV trail system. Check at the Office for recommendations based on your vehicle and ability level.

Mountain Biking

Miles of challenging roads and trails exist in the area with many starting nearby. Check at the Office for recommendations based on your ability level.

Rafting and Kayaking

The North Platte River and Northgate Canyon offer challenging whitewater opportunities during runoff (April to July). Flatwater boating is available on many nearby lakes and power boating is available on Rob Roy Reservoir a few miles south via maintained gravel roads.

Rock Climbing and Mountaineering

There are many challenging multi-pitch climbs a few miles up the road on the "Headwall" of the Snowy Range. There is also mountaineering in an alpine setting almost year-round.

Wildlife Viewing

The Snowy Range is home to a number of species of wildlife. Perhaps the favorite to see is a large moose from our small and elusive population. Elk, Deer, Marmots and Pikas are regular sights. Black bears in the area are particularly shy.
